Day 2 (delayed) and Day 3

Greetings all. Sorry for not giving an update yesterday. Had some technical glitches (that really means I sincerely meant to blog last night after everyone turned in, but instead crashed on the couch). So here is what we have been doing. Yesterday we drove to Tucson, about 90 miles south, and visited San Xavier del Bac Mission. San Xavier is an amazing building. Built by the Native American tribe over 200 years ago, it is a testament to their faith and desire to worship God. Throughout the church are reminders of their poverty but more importantly, their faith in Christ. From there we went to the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, which is a zoo dedicated to the flora and fauna of Arizona. What a beautiful place. Highlights we're the hummingbird house and the various snakes. We returned to a taco dinner, devotions and planning for some of our upcoming ministries.

Today, we volunteered at the Phoenix Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter and treatment facility serving the homeless of the Phoenix area for 60 years. We worked with several other volunteers in making over 500 bag lunches to be handed out this weekend on the streets of Phoenix. It was somewhat jarring to look at all those sandwiches and bags lined up and realize for eaCh one there was one of God's precious children desparetly needing that meal. We also spent time with on the mission's staffers who filled us in on the mission and activities of PRM. After we ate a late lunch we did some shopping at Goldfields, a former ghost town. We've now returned to home base and will do our final planning for our time at Arizona Reservation Ministries. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Pictures to follow.
