Day 5 Recap

Today was our first day working with ARM. We are going to have our team members fill you in over the next few days about their experiences. Today Michala Georgetti and Zac Betz will be our bloggers of the day.

Hello everyone back home! We are having a great time out in Globe and San Carlos. Today we woke up bright and early and after a delicious breakfast headed off on a prayer drive through the San Carlos reservation. It was extremely moving hear all the stories and see all the poverty that exists in our very own country. Immediately after the drive we headed off to the Arizona Reservation Ministries construction site where we did our first day of construction consisting of organizing wood, tilling and raking, moving rocks, and building some new muscle.

After the construction we headed back to the church to wash up then we headed off to the children's ministry(so exciting!!!). We broke up into two teams and we were both part of the bus team. After a bumpy ride we arrived at the town where after hearing the buses horn, children came piling onto the bus. It was so much fun to see their excited faces. When we arrived to the busses parking destination we were in change of the crafts(making kaleidoscopes). At first many of the kids seemed very hesitant to approach us and take part in the craft but they eventually warmed up to us. It was difficult, but we soon became kaleidoscope making pros and assisted many children in creating there own unique scope. As it was time to leave, one little girl named Rayray sat next to Zac and told him she didn't want to leave. Luckily, we still had the ride home with her. On the way to her stop, she began holding her kaleidoscope up to Zac and smiling and laughing with him. She kept pushing him off the seat and gave the whole bus a laugh. Right before her stop she jumped onto him and gave him a huge hug with a big smile on her face. It was adorable and so moving. Before the last stop 2 brothers named Trey and Troy joined us in the back on the bus and told us that they didn't like living there at all and that it was awful. It was heartbreaking. We tried to encouraging them and relating things we all like to do like skateboard for example. It was so sad to see them leave.

After the bus we headed home for dinner (chicken and dumplings) which was followed by a much enjoyed trip to Walmart. We just finished devotions and well now everyone pretty much head to bed and were finishing up the blog. It was truly a great day and we definitely agree God was working in the midst of our team. Please pray for all the children we met today and for our team during the coming days of labor and children's ministry. We're excited to switch it up and be part of the outside the bus team tomorrow and hopefully show the children how us New Jersey kids play basketball! Hope you're having a great break back at home! We miss you guys tons!

Peace out boy scouts,
Zac & Michala:)
